I have never tried to visualize expansion. Perhaps pulling a rubber band to the brink of a snap, but that does not truly encompass the enormity of the term. Yet expansion of my mind has been a defining aspect of the relationship I have fostered with academics. I study to expand. I am on PacRim to expand. Landing in Mongolia, my first experience with a developing country, I could feel my mind encroaching on that snap. Then I looked up and the expansion of my mind was mirrored in the sky above me. The sky in Mongolia is endless. It both took my breath away and reminded me that my mind can be limitless as well. For my Mongolian photography project, I tried to capture the infinite expansion of the sky that I am working to emulate in my own mind.
